EDIT: I have followed EVERY step on the front page. Every time I go to open that shortcut, I get the 2 "Guild Wars" windows at the bottom, but then one just closes and Guild Wars opens 1 client in window mode. Yes, I have both clients in window mode. Yes, I have 2 accounts. Yes, I have tried copying the GW.exe over a thousand times. No, there has not been an update since I downloaded this program (It was yesterday) and since I made the 2 Guild Wars folders. I have tried everything listed for that problem in the entire thread, and still the program does not work. I'm on the verge of giving up. HELP!!!

Thanks for the guide; works well. Or as well as can be expected on this PC. Should be easier to grab Gifts of the Traveller x 10 and Zkey transfers. I get an I/O 32 error trying to start GWx2 with the primary client already running, but starting GWx2 with both closed worked.
Cheers.

Sounds like your second client is not even trying to open. When I run GWx2 I get 4 boxes at the bottom for a brief second then two go away and two remain. The two that remain are my two GW accounts.
When you made the second GW folder did you only copy the .exe file? If so I recommend you copy the entire GW1 folder into your GW2 folder. If you did this correctly you should have two completely identical GW folders. Then run GWx2, if it doesn't work then do the -setup option to make sure GWx2 is looking at the correct .exe files.
One issue I have is when there is a game update and GW1 downloads it. When I copy the .exe file GWx2 gives me an error message and will not open both accounts. What I have to do is right click the GWx2 icon and tell it to "Run as administrator" this always works for me, but I think that might be some type of Vista thing cause it never did this on my old PC with XP. Hope this helps and gl with your issue.

You're having the same problems to?? I was trying to run two accounts so i can run a character through nightfall, but it won't start up.
I'm trying a fresh restart with the dat here quick, and then trying again. But so far yea no luck.
EDIT - yea a full delete of the secondary GW folder and a complete copy of the old one fixed it. Guess there was an update to the .exe file in the last update. Then just rerun GWx2 setup and change the paths.
It still works.

Worked fine just now. Just remember to copy the new gw.exe to your copied folder after every update. You'll want to overwrite the old one. I didn't have to do anything beyond copying the gw.exe.

I also get an I/O Error 32 if I click "Done" on the setup screen with the -setup parameter.
To fix this, remove the -setup parameter and open GWx2

That's odd - I always start gwx2 with the -setup parameter active. That way I can play around with other command line arguments - usually -nosound and -noshaders to lessen the strain on my system.
As an aside, running gwx2 with the main GW client already running will always result in an I/O 32 Error. Gwx2 is designed to start up both clients; if one is already running when gwx2 starts, it will throw up that error.

Just started discovering the joys of GWx2 a couple of days ago :-))
Actually played through my usual Mt Qinkai vanquish using side by side windows on my 24inch monitor :-) My usual H/H time is about 30 mins, and I did it in 33 mins playing both people LOL.. Well, I say playing.. The secondary screen was mostly following, picking up loot, maintaining retribution, and the occasional heal party LOL
Handed in my faction to go towards my title, and handed in the secondary faction for 14 passage scrolls for the merchant :-)
Probably the most fun I have had in a while! LOL

Had no problems with running on Vista.
However, have a look at GWML.. a new and open source Guild Wars Multi-Launcher. This seems even nicer and comes with the Snograt seal of approval :-)

rick - the "mattys" you're referring to is called MGWML ("Matty's Guild Wars Multi-Loader"). The new, open-source multi-loader that I'm now advocating (and Hengis) is just GWML by imkey - and it's the best of the bunch by far.

I don't understand why Anet can't make it so you can launch two clients... would it really do that much harm? I know of a code "-allowdupe" straight from activitsion for Call of Duty 4 which allows you to run two clients at once on a computer, wouldn't it be easier to allow your own customers to use multiple accounts they paid for at one time on one computer rather than have to answer questions about using 3rd party programs like GWx2?

#1 Yes. I run it on Vista Ultimate x64
#2 No. There have been no reports of any damage - and I wouldn't expect there to be.

#3 I've also tested GWML on Windows 7 x64 - no problems at all.
